The Story Behind the Park on Whiskey Road - Grand Lake, OK
The road leading into our campground was first dubbed Whiskey Road in the 1920s when it was used as a covert route for bootleggers to smuggle whiskey into Indian Territory. Over the decades the name stuck, and even though the official name has changed, locals to Grand Lake still know it as Whiskey Road.
The Park on Whiskey Road is proudly family-owned by Darin and Heather Berryhill and sits on land that originally belonged to Darin’s mother. As longtime Grand Lake residents and visitors, the Berryhills have spent the past 27 years raising their family and creating memories at their beloved weekend getaway.
“Grand Lake has always been a special place for our family,” says Darin. “It’s where we’ve gathered with family and friends, relaxed, reconnected, and made lifelong memories together. The Park on Whiskey Road is our way of sharing that experience with others, so they can enjoy everything we love about Grand Lake. We hope our guests return year after year to create meaningful memories with the people they love most.”
